The Mendip

Our customers adore the Mendip for its seamless combination of sleek storage and a well-equipped kitchen. The ¾ length RIB bed provides ample seating and easily folds down into a comfortable bed after a day of adventures. Additionally, the cosy elevating roof bed creates extra space, increasing the sleeping capacity to four.

Storage is plentiful with a large boot area, under-bed compartments, a full-height wardrobe, and cabinets that span the length of the van. Prepare your favorite meals on the two-burner gas hob with food and drinks from the conveniently accessible front loading fridge. With a comprehensive electrical, gas, and water system, you'll enjoy all the creature comforts that make your van feel like home.

Mendip Features

We tailor every conversion to our customer needs, however, the Mendip conversion typically includes the following:​

Seating & bedding

  • 2 seater 112cm ISOfix Mobiframe or RIB bed/seats

  • Under seat/bed drawer (Mobiframe) or magnetic covers (RIB) to create extra hidden storage spaces

 

Fixtures

  • Mendip conversion units with top access storage worktop, a full height wardrobe & tambour door 

  • Sliding table on a rail with aluminium folding leg

  • Two-burner hob/sink

  • 45L Front loading compressor fridge-freezer

Windows

  • Middle-fixed window

  • One standard half sliding window, complete with fly screen

  • Pair of barn door windows

  • Black-out curtains for the front cab, side windows & barn doors

  • All windows come as standard 80% privacy tinted

Lining & floors

  • Full side ply lining, lamb’s wool insulation & carpeting

  • Altro premium vinyl on top of a 12mm ply floor with under floor spacers which are fully insulated & sound deadened

  • 60L underslung water tank & pressure pump with an external fill point

  • Full gas system comprising of sealed metal cylinder box, drop out vents & emergency isolation valves.  Fully compliant with British standards, pressure tested and certified

  • Autoterm (Planer) diesel night heater with LCD display and 7 day timer

  • CO alarm

  • 110Ah Leisure battery with a 18A Victron DC to DC charger

  • 150w Premium solar panel and Victron MPPT controller

  • Seattle all in one electrical system including 230V, 12V, USB, battery charger, water probe & factory built wiring loom

  • LED spotlights on the strengthening frame

The long-wheelbase has a longer worktop, 2 extra LED spotlights, increased cupboard space & a bigger wardrobe.​​

Upgrades

​

We love our Mendip as it is, but there are opportunities to enhance and upgrade the following features:

  • Elevating roof with deluxe elevating roof bed consisting of a 25mm mattress on a pocket sprung base on top of bed slats supported by an aluminium frame. Choice of canvas colours with the Austops roof.

  • Windows can be flush opening for the authentic VW Kombi look

  • Curtains can be upgraded to integrated blinds with a choice of 20 colours

  • The sliding door can be upgraded with storage

  • Additional sound deadening can be added in many areas (if initially chosen - cannot be added at a later stage)

  • Front seat swivels can be added

  • Mobiframe and RIB full length floor rails for maximum flexibility

  • Lithium/LiFePO4 battery options

  • Montana full colour utilities display compatible with Lithium ion batteries

  • More powerful DC DC chargers (up to 50 Amps)
